My first personal shopping experience at a local independent boutique

Anyone that knows me will know that I am not body confident, I have no faith in my choice of clothing, and most of the time I play it fairly safe. So, when the youngest daughter said we were going for a personal shopping trip, I was a little dubious as I thought I would just be taking photos of her. Secondly the dread set in with memories of endless holiday shopping, falling in love with something and it looking bloody awful in the changing rooms.

How wrong was I?

We arrived at Lula in Leek, Staffordshire at 11am and were greeted by the owner, Emma with a warm and friendly smile.

The shop itself was really cute and Emma explained she had pulled out a few items based on what Beth had already told her but we were free to browse the rails and try on anything else that we liked the look of.

Emma took us down into the dressing room which was so cute with a little crushed velvet sofa, huge mirror and plenty of light. she explained whos items of clothing were for who and also left two bottles of water for us as the weather has been ridiculously hot.

Looking through the rail of clothes I wasn’t sure on most of them as they weren’t things I would normally pick out for myself with the exception of a couple, but I had nothing to lose. She had also left shoes out in our size. Big mistake as I can’t resist a nice shoe, and the tan, peep toe, heeled sandals were calling my name.

They didnt dissapoint, I didnt take them off throughout the whole experience.

These are the outfits I tried on

Outfit 1

This outfit I loved on the rail and was really anxious about trying it on, would my tummy look big, my boobs look big, would I look frumpy. But, this outfit once on filled me with confidence and I did actually fall in love with it.

The back has a small button at the nape of the neck then the fabric splits to reveal the back to the waist, with two splits to the front of the dress. The panel in the middle made my dreading middle region look somewhat flatter and I didn’t want to take it off, especially paired with the sandals I had already fell in love with.

Dress £40

Sandals £28

Outfit 2

This dress felt lovely on, really light weight and floaty but I wasn’t keen on the neck line or cuffs. I did however love the pattern, again paired with the tan sandals it would a great dress to go out for lunch and is a real bargain as it is currently in the sale priced at £25

Outfit 3

Again another floaty, light weight dress with a bold pattern. I really liked the feel of the dress but wasn’t a fan on the frill around the neck line as I like to draw the attention away from that area. The pattern feels very summery and would make the perfect statement dress for a trip abroad.

This dress is priced at £55

Outfit 4

This is something completely different for me. This faux leather, A line, midi skirt and burnt orange patterned blouse. The skirt sports two deep pockets and felt really luxurious, and although I didn’t choose to buy this outfit, the more I look at it, and the amount of compliments I have received, its definitely one that I will be going back for. Both are new season, so will be in store throughout autumn.

Blouse £26

Outfit 5

I love this dress, bold animal print, fitted in the right places and a little bit of a puffed sleeve, however, Beth also tried on the same dress and fell in love with it. Despite what she says, I’m a bit too old to be matching my 22-year-old daughter.

Currently in the sale for £28

Outfit 6

This is a gorgeous chiffon, shift dress that is floaty and light weight. It can be paired with a belt if you want that cinched in waist.

It’s a really nice floral pattern, and Emma assured me that even though I was wearing it with heels, that it looked equally as good with white converse.

This dress was in the sale and is currently out of stock on the website so Im really glad that this is the dress purchased on the day.

Dress £34

I also tried on a fab pair of black paper bag trousers with polka dot chiffon blouse and a paisley patterned smock dress but I didn’t grab photos of them.

Emma kindly offered us a 10% disscount as we were he first personal shopper customers and I can’t wait to wear my new outfit when I go out for dinner on holiday with the hubbie.

I will definitely be returning soon and we are already planning a birthday treat for my eldest daughter next year.

Make sure you check out her website and Instagram posts for her latest stock and if you haven’t tried personal shopping, then I highly recommend.
